Choolai, which previously was called Lakshmi Srinivasapuram Lake Area , was named after the Madras Central Road present in the area.

One of the most old temples in North Madras,Sri Srinivasa PerumalTemple as restored in a grand fashion on 1947 by donatees of the Sadhu Chetty Mahajana Kula after 1942 Second World War - Evacuation of Madras. 1943 Japanese Fighter Plane dropped bombs on City and disappeared.The People sadhu chetty left the the place Lakshmi Narasimhapuram Area  due to fewer of war shifted from madras to Tirupathi ,Kanchipuram, Vellore area at time god (srinivasa perumal temple at tirupati)appeared sleep dreams many of kula people and told that our sadhu chetty kula temple about more than 40 generation kula people prayering,bhajans is this temple  now left is dilapidated and had fallen into bad condition to is being restored in a grand fashion and some has been made by Sadhu Chetty Mahajana Kula on 1944 .

Special Event like Tirumala Brahmotsavam is an annual festival at Tirumala Lord Venkateswara Temple celebrated for nine days in the months of September and October.brahmotsavam take placed in the temple .
